Emergency medical response

The SATIS system by L2S2 Ltd is a scalable system for rapid, computerised individual and mass casualty triage. It is designed to be rapidly deployed typically within a tented facility: it is easily carried manually in rucksacks and in Peli Case form and can be fully functional within thirty minutes of arrival. It will run initially off batteries for several hours and is supplied with UPS backup to ensure continued operation in the event of generator failure.

It enables presenting patients to be quickly logged onto the SATIS system, triaged and then tracked through the Facility, including recording all treatment and observations, to discharge. Patients are given a wristband with QR code to locate and identify them at all points during their pathway through the medical facility. SATIS can include most of the Save the Children field hospital forms, using SATIS form generator tool and enabling electronic capture of required data (forms are pre-populated with data previously captured to avoid re-entry, saving clinician time). It can also include WHO approved Medical Data Set ensuring data are collected to appropriate international standards.

SATIS also provides sophisticated functionality to allow paper records to be integrated into the electronic dataset for completeness. NCR 3-part forms provides clinicians the ability to capture digitally required data on paper allowing for instant deployment while ensuring accurate and minimum requirements are met. Paper forms allows for Save the Children data capture while providing patient and local ministers minimum clinical information. SATIS hybrid scanning auto scores worksheets and captures handwriting as images to provide near real-time reporting when using paper data capture techniques.

SATIS provides command and control dashboards enabling real-time resource allocation / management. All data are fully auditable for accountability and governance, thus ensuring that the Facility can accurately and completely report its work. Prioritisation of resource and facilities can be managed using a visual display of patient throughput. Scheduled and triggered custom reports can be produced providing real-time field reporting to Command and Control including generating reports for Epidemiologists, EMTCC daily reporting, patient print-outs and asset management reports including stock management.

SATIS can also be used to track staff, equipment and drugs showing location information of assets. It can also be used to provide extensive communications functionality including transfer of x-ray images within the medical facility phone / messages / mail / information intranet.

SATIS provides WHO and local ministry reporting as well as accountability data that may be reported to sponsors and other stakeholders, evidencing the worth of deployments. Audit data may also be analysed to determine learning objectives, resource allocation requirements and real-time identification of issues so they can be rapidly addressed.

SATIS fully meets GDPR for security and information governance, particularly regarding patient records. All data are fully encrypted, it uses encrypted communications and data replication to avoid data loss. Systems and data are securely controlled to avoid inappropriate access. It was developed for the United Kingdom Emergency Medical Team (UKEMT), evolving to provide a full management system and has been signed off by WHO as an electronic platform for use in Type 1 and 2 medical facilities for humanitarian disaster relief. It is a critical part of the UK deployment approach. SATIS has been proven in multiple scenarios and has been tested at numerous simulation & training exercises within United Kingdom.
